(cancellations will be accepted until Mar. 16)

Our peaceful restorative class will include mindful breath work, seated and reclined poses, and end with deep relaxation with Stacy Faherty, 200RYT. Props are used throughout class to support your body and bring you into a calm, relaxed state. Next, Aidan Macalister, a 200 RYT, tea enthusiast, and aspiring herbalist will present an informative session on the healing benefits of herbal teas! We will discuss how to incorporate tea into a daily mindfulness practice, the effect of herbs on the human body, as well as tasting several different herbal tisanes. We ask that you please bring your favorite teacup or mug as we will be drinking lots of tea! Light vegetarian and vegan fare will be provided to help cleanse your palette in between tastings. Consider bringing a notebook and pen if you would like to take notes for your own personal reference. To end this mindful day, Stephanie, yoga teacher and accomplished artist, will guide you through creating and personalizing your own mandala painting by choosing the color, shapes, symbols, or you may choose to simply follow along in this fun filled positive inducing project. "Mandala" means circle in Indian Sanskrit. It symbolizes qualities such as unity, wholeness, perfection and divinity. The center of the mandala represents our spirit or awareness.  Its special message is said to speak, bringing clarity, serenity, and peace to a busy mind. Participating in art and/or yoga allows us to completely shift gears from our normal day to day stresses. My hope is that with light concentration you will find peace and beauty in your many abilities, most especially taking time out for yourself.

Yogaspirit® Principles of Ayurveda series: Ayurveda Yoga Chikitsa (therapy)

Ayurveda (Science of Life) is the missing link to Yoga’s (Union to Sacred Self) complete approach to healing based on recognizing the need for a customized and individualistic approach to practice and lifestyle choices.

Yoga Chikitsa is a traditional term used to describe Yoga methods used in a therapeutic model. It is founded on recognition that our physical condition, emotional states, attitudes, diet and behavioral, lifestyle and personal associations, along with the environment in which we live and work are all intimately linked to each other and to the state of health.

The Principles of Ayurveda in Yoga Therapy: Ayurveda Yoga Chikitsa (Therapy) Series is designed for anyone interested in Yogic and Ayurvedic healing. It is especially helpful to Yoga teachers, Yoga teachers-in-training, serious students of Yoga, therapists, and nurses.

Your teacher:
Stacy Faherty, RYT 200

Stacy was first introduced to the practice of yoga 12 years ago in college when she registered to take a Hatha Yoga class to fulfill a physical education requirement. Stacy had no idea that by taking this elected course her life would forever be changed. She received her RYT 200 with the Nook and enjoys practicing as well as teaching restorative yoga, mindful, breath centered movement, Yin Yoga, and Chair Yoga. Stacy’s style of teaching is breath centered and focuses on how one feels in a posture rather than how one looks. We all come to our mats for different reasons but the end result is the same.  We are striving to feel connected to our eternal truth, whether we realize it or not. As a teacher, Stacy’s mission is to create a safe and all-inclusive space to allow students to feel the freedom to explore their bodies, make friends with their breath, and expand their consciousness for all that is good, right within. The Bhagavad Gita tells, us that, “Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self” all it takes is an ounce of willingness and the rest will unfold just as it should.
