Meet the Crew
Meghan and Alex
Yoga Nook in collaboration with Children First ABA Clinic is excited to be offering a program for kids with exceptional needs including, but not limited to: autism, down syndrome, ADHD, learning disabilities, anxiety or a lot of energy meeting program requirements.
The program will include yoga, meditation, calming techniques, socialization and FUN!! It will be taught by Alex, owner of Yoga Nook, and Meghan, owner of Children First ABA Clinic.
Alex is a certified yoga instructor and a certified teacher with 15 years teaching experience in 2 countries, 2 languages and across grade levels.
Meghan is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and a certified teacher with 18 years teaching experience as well as the mom to 2 wonderful children with autism.
Meghan and Alex both received specific training in using yoga with children with autism after enjoying a year of collaboration in this area. During their time collaborating, they have seen children grow in the areas of communication, social skills, group skills, problem solving, motor imitation, and many more. They are excited to be bringing this opportunity to the Hampton Roads area.
Please Note: Participants in Yoga 4 Exceptional Kids must be able to follow simple directions and stay with a group. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to assist with toileting, so children who participate can not need toileting help such as wiping or diaper changing during the class. Also, for safety reasons, children who are an elopement risk (from the building) or who have bouts of frequent or harmful physical aggression are not appropriate for this program. If you have questions about the program meeting the needs of your child or family, please contact Meghan or Alex at 757-454-6849.
